IVF Treatment Costs

How much does IVF cost?

The following fees are associated with fertility treatment:

  • Consultations with your fertility specialist (including initial and follow up)
  • Any investigations or tests you may require (e.g. semen analysis or AMH testing)
  • Fertility treatment and the medications involved
  • Depending on your circumstances, advanced scientific techniques (e.g. access to the donor programme, or pre implantation genetic testing)

Many fertility treatments attract a rebate from Medicare. The Medicare Safety Net also provides additional rebates for people with large medical expenses. Once you reach the Medicare Safety Net threshold in a calendar year, Medicare will pay an additional rebate on selected items.

The tables below provide an estimate of your out of pocket costs for fertility treatment and associated services with IVFAustralia in our NSW clinics. If you are located outside of NSW, feel free to visit our sister clinics located in QLD, VIC and TAS: Queensland Fertility Group, Melbourne IVF and TasIVF.

If attending our Canberra or Newcastle clinics, please confirm with the clinic and/or the day hospital for current pricing.

Once your personalised treatment plan has been agreed between you and your specialist, our experienced patient support team will contact you within 48 hours to provide you with a detailed cost estimate, so you are fully aware of the total fee and out of pocket expenses for your fertility treatment.

Fertility Medications

In line with all other prescription medications, the medications you require for your fertility treatment will incur an additional cost. These medications are ordered through a pharmacy, and will be delivered to your clinic prior to your fertility treatment commencing.

Specialist Day Hospital Admission

For patients undergoing IVF or ICSI cycles, all egg collections and embryo transfers are undertaken in one of our Specialist Day Hospitals under a local or general anaesthetic.

There is no Medicare rebate available for Specialist Day Hospital procedures, although some rebates do exist for anaesthetic services. Therefore, the amount for which you are covered for these admissions is dependent on your level of private health insurance cover.

If you don't have health insurance from a private health fund, you can expect to pay around $2000 for Specialist Day Hospital care (payable on the day of admission) and an anaesthetist (billed separately). Our Specialist Day Hospital team will contact you in advance of your procedure to inform you of the fees involved.
